Festival Music 2010
The music of Pilton Festival 2010 was presented on three stages - the Top Parker Stage, Middle Cancer Busking Stage and Bottom Trailer Stage - in Pilton Street throughout the day on Saturday.
All day Saturday the music came with a wide range of styles/genres and performers aged from 14 to 70, altogether a very inclusive event with something for everyone. On offer was very varied music with traditional, folk, acapella, ska, rock/pop and singer songwriters.
This year introduced the Middle Stage Cancer Busking Platform. This is a national campaign in aid of cancer research and supported by stars of the music world, many of whom started their careers busking. It's a very exciting project indeed and more details can be found on www.buskingcancer.co.uk. It is a chance to see amazing raw talent at very close quarters.
The headlining acts included ska band The Liquidators (photo top left), 14-year-old Harry Houseago (photo above left), North Devon's Premier Country Dance Band Bloater Town and Great British Eccentric 2009 and singer /songwriter, poet and musician Colin Shaddick. And The Dambuskers (above) stepped in at the last minute to close the day brilliantly on the Top Stage.
The Annual Concert of Words and Music in the Church of St Mary in 2010 was on Festival Sunday evening and represented the calm after the storm of Green Man Day. This year it had the theme of 'Man on Earth' with brilliant music and evocative readings on how Man has used and been affected by the Earth.
